Alfredo Calot Escobar, the European Union’s Registrar of the Court of Justice, the higher judicial power of the European Union, gave a lecture last January the 13th, at the Facultat de Dret. Calot has had an important role in the consolidation of the European legal system. He studied law at Universitat de València (class of 1984) and is the Registrar of the Court of Justice since October the 7th, 2010.
The event started at 12:00 in the Saló de Graus of the Departament de Dret Processal of the Faculty of Law (3rd level).
The lecture was titled ‘El Tribunal de Justícia de la UE i el procés d'integració jurídica europea’ (The EU’s Court of Justice and the process of European legal integration). It was the opening lecture within the masters’ degree Màster Oficial i Doctorat en Dret, Empresa i Justícia. This is a masters’ degree specially designed for law professionals and it has an outstanding success.
Alfredo Calot’s mandate lasts 6 years. He was appointed by the 27 magistrates and 8 advocates-general of the court. Calot is the fifth Registrar of the Court since it was created, 53 years ago.
