The University of Malaga serves as host of the 13th Annual General Meeting of Universia, the largest network of Spanish and Portuguese universities, consisting of 1,242 academic institutions in 23 countries. The principals of the 79 universities that are part of Universia Spain, including the principal of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo, are invited to this meeting.

The sessions will be chaired by Emilio Botin, chairman of Banco Santander and Universia and, Adelaida de la Calle, president of the Conference of Principals of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and principal of the University of Malaga, Jaume Pagès, CEO of Universia; José Antonio Villasante, CEO of Banco Santander and Director of Santander Universities Global Division, and Manuel Guerrero, general secretary of Universia and deputy general director of Banco Santander.

As part of the Board, Adelaide de la Calle and Jose Antonio Villasante inaugurate on Thursday in the office of the principal of the University of Malaga on 'Agora Meeting Santander-Universidad de Málaga', a meeting of Santander scholarship holders to which Spanish students that have benefited from any of the scholarship programs offered by the bank have been invited.

The board will review the activities conducted last year and will present new lines of action to be developed in the future. The university network has made more than 425,600 Latin American university students find jobs and more than 25,000 internships.

The university has its own space on Universia, as the "Portal de Becas", which in 2012 released 43,900 calls for grants. Contests and competitions have been called, among which Fototalentos stands out, which will deliver its prizes on Friday.

This Thursday the winners of 'OpenCourse Ware, Uniproyecta' and 'Miriada X' will be known, which will reward the best course offered on this platform, which hosts the Mass in Open Online Courses (MOOCs, its acronym in English), launched in January 2013 and currently has 300,000 registered users.

Universia, which has the support of Banco Santander, through its Santander Universities Global Division, is comprised of 1,242 member universities, present in 23 countries in Latin America.
