The exhibition ‘Manuel Boix. La Nau, viaje del tiempo’, produced by the University of Valencia will continue until 23 September in the Contemporary Art Center ‘Àcentmetresducentredumonde’ in Perpignan (France). It is not the first international itinerancy of an exposition by the University of Valencia. In fact, the exhibition ‘Josep Renau (1907-1982). Compromiso y cultura’ travelled to Mexico after visiting several Spanish cities.
The Contemporary Art Center ‘Àcentmetresducentredumonde’ from Perpignan became interested on this exhibition which show an artist’s new serial about La Alcudia and which has been visited in the Cultural Center La Nau of the University of Valencia by over 10,000 people.
Through this exhibition, Boix –Awarded with the National Award of Plastic Arts (Ministry of Culture, 1980)- travels in time to create a new serial specially inspired on the wide cultural and scientific patrimony preserved by the University of Valencia as well as many current social issues such as immigration and the Population Springs.
This collaboration with a French entity was produced only three weeks after the vice-Principal Antonio Ariño was awarded with the Order of the Academic Palms from the French Ministry of Culture, a recognition to the collaboration of the Office of the Vice-principal of Culture and Equality to bring closer the best of French culture both to the academic institution and society, from the compromise of a critical culture illustrated with activities carried out by the French Institute in La Nau, Valencia.
The Academic Palms are a French civil decoration created by Napoleon in 1808. In its origin, it was only an honorific title reserved to the university (the lycees), but now they are decorations extended to other areas within the teaching world.
