
To mark the 205th anniversary of the birth of the British naturalist Charles Darwin, February 12, the University of Valencia has organised several activities. The programme begins this Tuesday at 7 pm in the Bookshop 3i4 (San Ferran, 12, Valencia) with the presentation of the book ‘El somni de Lucreci’, the professor of journalism and director of the Magazine Method of the University of Valencia, Martí Domínguez, Carles Rahola Essay Prize in 2013, with the participation of the institutional delegate for the CSIC, José Pío Beltrán.
The organisation of this programme is monitored by the Chair for Scientific Dissemination UCC+i of the University of Valencia, in collaboration with the Science Area of the October Centre of Contemporary Culture and the Institute of Catalan Studies.
The activities will continue Wednesday 12 February with a Sciences Bar in the October café. An open meeting with the public with Adolf Tobeña, professor of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, regarding his book ‘Devots i descreguts: Biologia de la religiositat’, will begin at 19:00 and will be moderated by the journalist Reis Juan.
The Darwin Day will conclude Thursday 13 with the conference ‘Reflections on the nature and the origin of the biological evolution’, dictated by Kepa Ruiz-Mirazo, of the University of the Basque Country. The lecture will begin at 11:00 in the Room Charles Darwin of the Campus of Burjassot-Paterna of the University of Valencia.
