More than 180 experts took part in an international conference on innovation and knowledge at Universitat de València

Universitat de València’s Principal, Esteban Morcillo, opened yesterday the conference ‘Global Innovation and Knowledge Academy – GIKA 2012’, which started last Tuesday and finished yesterday at Facultat d’Economia. GIKA is a conference celebrated every two years and a platform for debating the state of the art of topics related to innovation and knowledge from the economic, management and entrepreneurship management points of view.

During this year’s edition, celebrated in Valencia, different topics are going to be tackled. These are the topics related to the geographic contexts of companies location, the technology creation and management, the different types of innovation and its effects in the business results, their role in technological strategy, human resources management and introduction of good practices.

More than 180 researchers from more than 50 universities are represented in the conference, which has been opened at an event chaired by Esteban Morcillo. María José Catalá, Minister for the Valencian Government for Education, Carlos Ayllats, Vice-principal for Employment and social action at UPV, Vicent Soler, Dean of the Facultat d’Economia, and Domingo Ribeiro, co-presidento of the conference, also attended the event.

During his speech, Universitat de València’s Principal stated the relevance of the research at the universities as well as knowledge transfer to the production sectors, especially in this recession times. All this in order to contribute to employment creation, economic development and social well-being.
