The Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality of the University of Valencia, through the programme for debate and reflection on-line NAU XXI (http://nauxxi.uv.es), has opened a debate on the future of public university in the framework of university reform that the Wert report has raised. On NAU XXI various documents and reports are available, from national and international experts that contribute to the debate on the reason for being of the public university and its challenges and risks in the current situation.
With this new debate, NAU XXI becomes a framework to assess what universities contribute and what they can contribute in a near future where there will be major changes in society, and how they can contribute to social improvement and quality of life.
All this information is available previous to the discussion, to be held in the auditorium of the Cultural Centre La Nau, on 15 April, at Claustre Obert (18:30).
The debate titled, "The Spanish public university and its future. Open debate in the context of the Wert report", will feature speeches from Adelaida de la Calle Martín, principal of the University of Málaga and president of the Conference of Principals of Spanish Universities (CRUE) and Francesc Xavier Grau Vidal, principal of Universitat Rovira i Virgili and author of the report "The public university in Spain. Challenges and priorities in the context of the crisis of the first decade of the century." The debate will be moderated by the principal of the University of Valencia, Esteban Morcillo.
