Next September, Universitat de València will host more than a thousand chemists from all over the world

Conference's poster.

Next September, more than a thousand chemists are gathering at the 40th International Conference on Coordination Chemistry. Coordination chemistry is one of the chemistry’s branches concerned with different fields like medicine, energy, and environment. This is the first time this important forum for discussion is held in Spain.

From 9 to 13 September, Valencia will host for the first time the 40th edition of the International Conference on Coordination Chemistry (ICCC40). It is the most important forum of discussion of this important branch of chemistry. Coordination chemistry is devoted to the study of the coordination complexes, molecular entities which are related to different fields like nuclear medicine, pharmacology, energy, environment, information technology, and communications. This conference is organized by the Molecular Science Institute (ICMoL) at Universitat de València.

The conference will disclose, for instance, the last results of the study of molecules which will improve the catalysis processes. There will be discussion on the design of more efficient and cheaper solar cells or nanodevices with giant memories. The state of the progress in the development of systems related to cisplatin, which is a chemical agent used in chemotherapy treatments, will be another topic, among many others the 80 lecturers will present.

The organizing committee is headed by the full professor of inorganic chemistry and ICMol’s director Eugenio Coronado and by Santiago Álvarez, full professor of inorganic chemistry at Universitat de Barcelona.
