Tomorrow, the lecturer Pau Rausell, director of Econcult – the Universitat de València’s Unidad de Investigación en Economía de la Cultura y Turismo – belonging to IIDL, the Interuniversity Institute for Local Development, is presenting the results of the research carried out in the last three years on the relationship between culture, innovation and development within the framework of the European project Sostenuto.
One of the main conclusions is that the cultural and creative activities are one of the most important variables explaining the wealth of the European regions. As some of the researches show, they may be even the most significant.
The report written by Econcult from this analysis is titled ‘La cultura como factor de innovación económica y social’ and it is the first volumen of the final publication of Sostenuto. The report stresses that ‘in these times of global changes, the chances to compete focus on the activities related to creativity, innovation and talent.’
El segundo volumen de la publicación final, coordinado por Relais Culture Europe (RCE), plantea algunos de los desafíos a los que se enfrentan actualmente los países de la Unión Europea en términos de desarrollo, sociedad y democracia.
Este volumen, titulado “Cultura e innovación(es): Europa vista desde el sur”, incluye aportaciones como las del catedrático de la Universidad Rennes 2 Jean-Michel Lucas, que también intervendrá en la presentación de Bruselas para hablar de cultura y desarrollo sostenible y los valores de la Agenda 21 de la Cultura.
Sostenuto project, co-financed by EU’s programme Med (Interreg IV B), was created to reinforce the innovation capability of the cultural sector and to make politicians aware of the importance of culture in the territorial development.
Sostenudo project has implemented pilot micro-territorial experiences in the field of the connections among culture, economy, social matters and democracy.
These experiences, carried out through four different cultural labs, have been developed by five entities: AMI (France), CITEMA (Italy), Bunker (Eslovenia), Expeditio (Montenegro), and ZeP Progetti (Italy).
Relais Culture Europe (France) and Econcult have been in charge of analyzing, spreading, assessing and promoting the transfer of the projects’ result.
