Universitat de València professor, Pau Rausell, was elected today for the constitution of the Cultural Board of Trustees of Catalonia, a new consultative organ, approved by the Catalan government in November 2014. The Board of Trustees will be made up of 52 members from the business, social and cultural world.

One of the aims of the Board of Trustees is to “focus more on culture” and to value its role in the configuration of a more prosperous and more trained society, with more individual and collective possibilities to progress. In order to achieve “more efficient, agreed and open policies opened to society in terms of culture”, as well as to “improve the Administration’s advice and  transparency”.

The government body hosts political representatives of the business, union and economic community, as well as of the educational and associative field. Professor Rausell’s incorporation fulfils the quota of five people of recognized competence, prestige and importance at analysing the political and reality cultures, together with Ezequiel Barón and Lluís Bonet, who are economists; Xavier Cubeles, who is an expert; and Xavier Marcet, who is a consultant. Pau Rausell is the only member among the professionals who is not Catalan.

The new government body will follow the sector and the government public policies up. Among his other functions, he will try to achieve the higher socialization of the cultural fact and he will consult or send reports about policies addressed to obtain it. Furthermore, he will have to monitor the annual action plan of the Culture Department and of his influence in society, as well as the Catalan participation in programmes of the European Union.

Another task of his is to analyse the strategic plan, the formation of clusters, the condition of the trainings and the educational resources of the cultural field. The exercise of ordinary functions of members of the Board of Trustees of Culture does not imply the perception of any remuneration nor the perception of indemnities to attend to sessions.
