
The professor Rafael Crespo assumed on Tuesday, 1 December, the competences within the postgraduate studies area of the Universitat de València during a ceremony held at the Meeting Room of the Office of the Principal. This act took place in the context of the Executive Council restructuring announced by the principal during the Governing Council on 24 of November.
During the ceremony, the principal of the Universitat de València, Esteban Morcillo, reiterated his gratitude for the services rendered to the academic institution of the former vice-principals Rosa Marín and Clara Martínez, as expressed at the Governing Council of the 24 of November.
During the last five years, and within a complex economic and normative context, the doctor Marín concluded the decentralisation process of the official master studies management, as well as its certification. She also introduced the new doctoral programmes and the new Doctoral School of the Universitat de València has been created. On the other hand, the doctor Martínez managed the presence of the Universitat de València in the VLC/CAMPUS Campus of International Excellence and in the CampusHabitat5, she also developed the Sustainable Campus programme and initiated the agreements which constituted the California-Spain Campus with the University of California, Berkeley, together with the Office of the Vice-Principal for Internationalisation and Cooperation; the agreement recently signed with the Complutense University of Madrid to participate in the RCC at the Harvard University.
With a wide trajectory within the area of teaching and dissemination, as well as an external evaluator for ANECA and the accreditation agencies of the Canary Islands and Andalusia, the doctor Crespo promoted scientific dissemination and mathematical talent stimulation programmes, such as ESTALMAT or the Summer Scientific Campus of VLC/CAMPUS. Nowadays he coordinates, commissioned by the Autonomic Secretariat for Education and Research of the Valencian Government, a group of secondary and primary school teachers in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, for the reflection and development of training and resources projects addressed to the teaching staff.
Secretary (1993-1995) and director (1986-1987 and 1999-2002) of the Department of Mathematic Analysis, the professor Crespo has been vice-dean (1996-1999) and dean of the Faculty of Mathematical Sciences between the years 2005 and 2015. Nowadays he is chief of the University of Valencia General Foundation designated by the Governing Council and elected member of the university senate.
