The “Palacio del Cid” of Requena hosted last Friday 11 July, a conference organized by the Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation of the UV and the City Council of Requena, in collaboration with IMELSA. Several experts of the University analysed the relations between business and women’s entrepreneurship.
The mayor of Requena, Javier Berasaluce Ramos; the vice-principal Jorge Hermosilla and Jose Luis Pellicer, of IMELSA, inaugurated this series of lectures, which fostered providing information in the field of local development, consulting entrepreneurs and encouraging them to set up their own business by taking advantage of the resources and the synergies of their environment.
Professor Cesar Camison Zornoza (Department of Business Management) inaugured teh session with a lecture entitled “La empresa familiar como agente emprendedor” (The family business as enterprising agent): “Requirements for a proper development”. The full university professor of the Business Organization explained that every single enterprise with more than one hundreds of years are familiar (Osborne, Roca, Codorníu, Ikea, Heineken, Michelin, Ford, Coca-Cola…) and pointed out that: “Being a familiar business is not an obstacle to grow and, according to surveys, it may be a guarantee of long into the future”.
Professor Jesús Olavarria Iglesia (Department of Commercial Law ‘Manuel Broseta Pont’) addressed the thematic from a legislative point of view with a lecture entitled “Fórmulas legales para la creación de empresas. Ventajas e inconvenientes” (Legal formulae for the creation of enterprises. Advantages and disadvantages”. He pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of business formulae.
The chairperson of Psychology and director of the “Institut Universitari d’Estudis de la Dona de la Universitat de València” (University Institute of Women’s Studies of the UV), Ester Barberá Heredia, gave a lecture entitled ‘Mujeres emprendedoras y laberinto de cristal’ (Enterprising Women and the Crystal Maze), with this lecture she shared with the public some entrepreneurial initiatives, skills from the perspective of gender and denounced the obstacles that women have to overcome when setting up a business.
This conference is included within the programme ‘Universitat i Territori 2014’ (University and Territory 2014) of the Office of the Vice-principal for Territorial Projection and Participation; an initiative which aims to make the UV available to local society and transfer the knowledge of teaching and research staff to the neighbours of the localities within its sphere of influence.
