The Universitat de València and the town hall of Alzira, with the collaboration of Caixa Popular, organise the first edition of the ‘Universitat de Primavera d’Alzira’ which will offer free to professional, students and local citizens During days 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 May, professors of the Universitat will give conferences about water and economics, entrepreneurship and cooperativism.
The Office of the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation of the Universitat de València and the town hall of Alzira, through IDEA (Local Development Agency of Alzira), with the support of Caixa Popular, launch the first edition of the ‘Universitat de Primavera d’Alzira (UPA)’, with the title ‘Regional economy: between the continuity and the sustainable development’. The Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, Jorge Hermosilla; the mayor of Alzira, Diego Gómez; the head of Business and Marketing of Caixa Popular, José María Company; the head of the office of Caixa Popular in Alzira, Josep Llopis; and Emilio Barba, head of the Vice- Principal initiatives and coordinator of UPÇA, will present the programming this Tuesday, 17 May, at 13:00, in the Museu Municipal d’Alzira (MUMA).
‘UPA’ training sessions will be held on 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26 May from 15:30 to 20:00, in the MUMA. The trainign courses that will be given during the five sessions have the participation of specialists of the Universitat de València linked with the Faculty of Economics and of the University Institutes of Social and Cooperative Economics, and of Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology.
On 18 and 19 May, the module ‘Water and Economics: the oportunity of natural resources’. The teachers Antonio Camacho (Department of Microbiology and Ecology of the Universitat de València) and Francesc Hernández (Department of Economic Structure, of this university too) will be the responsible people of giving this course focused on water a essential factor of socioeconomical development. Camacho is doctor in Biological Sciences and professor of the Faculty of Biological Sciences of the Universitat de València, while he develops his researches in the Cavanilles Institute as specialist in functional ecology of lakes and wetlands. Hernández is professor of the Faculty of Economics and leads the Research Group ‘Water Economics’ (GEA), specialised in the management of hybrid resources.
On Tuesday 24 May, will take place the course ‘Star today: key aspects’, which will be given by Isidre March (Department of Business Management ‘Juan José Renau Piqueras’). March is full university professor in the Universitat de València in the field of business organization, and head of the Master’s degree in Creating and Managing Innovative Companies which gives in the Faculty of Economics. The attendance to this module will be able to discover strategies and entrepreneur challenges, as well as the tendencies and business opportunities and the main skills of an entrepreneur.
The sessions on 25 an 26 May will be focused on the ‘Social economy, cooperativism and territory’, a seminar that will be given by professors who are joined to the University Institute of Social Economy Research, Cooperativism and Entrepreneurship: María José Vañó ( Department of Mercantile Law Manuel Broseta Pont), Pilar Alguacil ( Department of Financial Law and Legal History) and Rafael Chaves ( Department of Applied Economics). The professor Chaves will open this module, on Wednesday 25 at 15:30, with a speak entitled ‘Cooperatives as entities of social economics: Impact in the local environment’; then, the professor Vañó will explain the legal aspects of the constitution and workinf of the cooperatives. On Thursday 26, María José Vañó will restart the session with a practise case, and then, Pilar Alguacil wil speak about the tax system of cooperatives.
This first edition of the ‘Universitat de Primavera d’Alzira’ is the result of an agreement signed by the Universitat de València, through the Vice-Principal for Territorial Projection and Participation, with the Town Hall of Alzira. The same way, it has the support of the Chair ‘Cooperativa Caixa Popular del Desarrollo Territorial y Economía Social Valencianos’. The objective of the Universitat de València with this strategic line of institutional co-operation is to project the potential of the research community about their geographical space, to promote the presence and the implication of the Universitat in Valencian regions and to transfer training, investigation and knowledge further more than university classrooms, in a free Universitat de Primavera and accessible to the people who live in Alzira.
