
Ricard Huerta, lecturer of artistic education, has been appointed new director of Institut d’Investigació en Creativitat i Innovacions Educatives replacing Román de la Calle. De la Calle leaves this position after his retirement as full professor of aesthetics. The Institut de Creativitat i Innovacions Educatives was founded in the 1970s.
This is the oldest research institute within the humanities area at Universitat de València and it is a reference point in the Spanish research on pedagogy and aesthetics.The new director is a tenured lecture in the Departament de Didàctica de l’Expressió Musical, Plàstica i Corporal, lecturer at Facultat de Magisteri and also the secretary of the mentioned institute until he has been appointed. Huerta has organized, along with Román de la Calle, the Diploma d’Educació Artística i Gestió de Museus which is promoted by this research institute.
He is part of the researchers group of the Observatori d’Educació Patrimonial a Espanya (OEPE). He has got a PhD in Fine Arts and a degree in music, fine arts and audio-visual communication; he leads the project Mestres i Museus, where eight universities from five countries are involved. He is a member of ICOM-Unesco and edits the journal EARI. Educació Artística Revista d’Investigació. He has been invited to universities in Argentina, Cuba, Uruguai, Colombia, Chili, and the United Kingdom. He has published the books Funció Plàstica dels Lletres, Art i Educació, Un Dia, Cultura Visual a Ontinyent, Apaga-la!, Museu Tipogràfic Urbà, Mestres i Museus, Ciutadana letra, Dones Mestres, Identitats docents a Iberoamèrica, and many papers in specialized journals. As a visual artist, he has presented some exhibitions like Alfabet del Tirant, Alfabet de Jesucrist, Alfabet d’Alexandre, Alfabet dels Ciutats, works where he includes painting, engravement, photography and video. He develops the photography project called Lletres de Ciutats at the same time that he organized the exhibitions on artistic research Dones Mestres, a showing which could be seen in Brussels (European Parliament), Santiago, Chili (Museu Artequin), Montevideo, and several Spanish cities. He has been recently in charge of the exhibition Cal•ligrafies de la malaltia. Lletra de metge, which is now running at Palau de Cerveró.
