
UV’s Principal, Esteban Morcillo, has received the students taking part in the international campus ‘Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe: A Berkeley Startup Bootcamp’ this Wednesday. The international campus is organised by the European Innovation Academy together with the University of Califòrnia at Bekeley.
30 undergraduate, master and doctoral students from the School of Engineering, the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Economics of the UV have applied for the competition. This competitions is a part of the activities programme within the California-Spain Campus initiative coordinated by VLC/CAMPUS International Campus of Excellece and ANDALUCÍA TECH.
The Principal has congratulated the students and expressed his satisfaction for the recognition to their effort and excellence. He has also encourage them to take advantage of the training experience this event which is organised by the European Innovation Academy together with the University of California at Bekeley. For the Principal, “UV students’ participation in international activities is supposed to be a fundamental experience in their training, which will continue to improve their opportunities for intergration and professional development”.
During the reception, students have been accompanied by the Vice-Principal for Undergraduate Studies and Linguistic Policy, Isabel Vázquez; Vice-Principal for Internationalization and Cooperation, Guillermo Palao; and the academic tutors of the activity, the professors Alicia Mas (Faculty of Economics), Marisa Salvador (Faculty of Biological Sciences) and Esteban Sanchis (ETSE).
California–Spain Campus (californiaspaincampus.org) initiative is aimed at adding value to the activities in collaboration with the University of California at Berkeley (UCB) planned in the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed in 2013.
Vice-Rectorade for Undergraduate Studies and Linguistic Policy of the UV announced and organised a competition for selecting six students enrolled in undergraduate, master or doctoral degrees for the academic year 2015/2016, from the School of Engineering, the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Economics of the UV.
Participants who completed the training period and succeded in the selection process (through the favourable assesment on the part of Selection Committee) have been given help to pay the registration and accomodation to take part in the international campus: “Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Europe: A Berkeley Startup Bootcamp”, which is taking place in Nice (France) throughout the month of July 2016.
This competition is also a part of the project VLC/CAMPUS Global which seeks to promote CEI’s international mission, in this case, encouraging the participation of UV’s centers and students in international excellence activities which boost innovation and talent processes, as well as the entrepreneurial spirit of the students of the campus.
The winning students of the 2016 edition are Vincent Blay Roger (School of Engineering), Israel Zanón Moscardó (Faculty of Biological Sciences), Paz Ferrer Cantó (Faculty of Economics), Carolina Lacasta González (Faculty of Biological Sciences), José Vilanova Serrador Paz Ferrer Cantó (Faculty of Economics) i María Lairón Peris (Faculty of Biological Sciences).
California-Spain Campus initiative is coordinated by Vice-Rectorate for Internationalisation and Cooperation of the UV, run by the Policies for Excellence Office (OPEX), management unit of the International Campus for Excellence programme of the UV, and framed within the entrepeneurship programme ‘EMPREN +’ which supports university entrepreneur.
