Today, October 31, Claustre Obert is hosting the lecture ‘Diseño y sostenibilidad en la encrucijada de la crisis’ (design and sustainability at the crisis’ crossroads). The event is taking place at 18:30 in La Nau’s main hall, but can be followed live at the UV’s television (http://mediauni/tv).
Daniel Nebot -Premio Nacional de Diseño 1999-, Pepe Gimeno -Premio Letra Roland 2008-, Ignacio Lavernia -deputy director at Escola d’Art i Superior de Disseny de València-, and Alberto Flores, member of the group Makea Tu Vida, are going to take part in the debate. Antonio Ariño, Vice-Principal for Culture and Equality, is going to present the event.
The economic recession invites to think about new kinds of design, and this debate is proposed to mark the end of the exhibition called Rehogar. Soluciones para el hábitat a partir de residuos, which can be seen until next November 1st. This activity has been organized by the group Makea Tu Vida, and it invites to reflect on the current situation with the help of art: we are at a moment in history when citizens produce and uncontrolled amount of waste. We are wasting the resources we have available in our planet. Other world is possible if the materials are transformed, as we can see in the objects exhibited. Sala Oberta at La Nau is transformed into a house where all the furniture is made of waste materials.
Claustre Ober is a debate space created by Universitat de València with the cooperation of the diary El País to analyze the social, cultural, and economic current events.
