Today, September 21, Universitat de València officially opens the new academic year over a ceremony starting at 12:00 at La Nau’s main hall. Lessons have already begun, on September 13, for more than 40,000 students in 58 different degrees. Physicist José Bernabeu is going to give the master lecture, which is titled ‘Las fronteras de la ciencia’ (Science’s borderlines). The event is going to be broadcast live at: http://mediauni.uv.es/tv.

The UV’s Principal Esteban Morcillo is going to read the usual opening lecture, and the General Secretary María José Añón is going to read a briefing of the 2011/2012 year’s memory. The University Choir is closing the event with a performance.

One more year, Universitat de València states its position as the favourite among the Valencian students, who have chosen it as their first option in June to study their degrees. In fact, the waiting lists have increased for most of the degrees and the mark needed to get acceptance is higher for the main studies. After that, only 188 places were vacant –out of the 8,450 initially offered- in the September period to access the first year of studies at the university.

The studies offered by Universitat de València include all the areas of knowledge: 53 degrees and 5 double degrees. It has two international excellence campus mentions.
