The Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Valencia (Royal Economic Society of Friends of the Valencian Country) organises the 14 November, a lecture-tribute to the Valencian erudite, scientist and marine Jorge Juan, in the 300 anniversary of his birth. In the event they will participate the Professors of the University of Valencia Víctor Navarro and Juan Fabregat.
The session will begin at 19:00 in the Assembly Hall of the Historical Building of the Conservatorio Profesional de Música de Valencia (Professional Conservatoire of Music of Valencia) (plaza San Esteban, 3).
Jorge Juan y Santacilia was one of the most important men in the international scene of science in the eighteenth century.
Víctor Navarro Brotons, retired Professor of History of Science at the University of Valencia, has published hundreds of articles specialised journals and is the author of more than twenty books.
Juan Fabregat Llueca, Professor of Astronomy at the University of Valencia, is an international recognised Valencian scientist, who has worked particularly on the origin and formation of celestial bodies. He is the author of two books and more than fifty research articles in international journals. He is the president of the Comisión de Investigación y Ciencia (Commission for Research and Science) of the RSEAP (Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País de Valencia).
