
The University of Valencia celebrates a new edition of the Week of the University for Integration, under the heading ‘Tots iguals, tots diferents’, from 3 to 5 December. This year the meeting will be at the Faculty of Social Sciences (Tarongers Campus), at the saló d’actes and where it will be open the event today Monday, at 12:00, led by the Principal, Esteban Morcillo.
The opening ceremony will be also attended by the director of Social Projects of the Foundation Vodafone Spain, Mar Fernández, and the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Ernest Cano. This meeting is organized by the Unit for the Integration of Persons with Disabilities, which manages the General Foundation of the University of Valencia.
The inaugural conference (13:00) will be about the accessibility at the University and will be led by Santiago Pià, technical architect specialized in accessibility and collaborator of the University of Valencia. In the afternoon there will be a couple of conferences, entitled El somni de Pedro: Accesibilitat de l’alumnat sord en l’entorn academic (16:00), by Vanessa Juan Jorques, specialist in sign language of the Foundation Fesord of the Valencian Country; and Art i discapacitat (17:30), by the painter Javier Planells and the coordinator of the Association Auxilia, Laura Redón. The Faculty also will host a show of Boccia of Rosa María Aranda, a volunteer of the Foundation Auxilia.
The morning of Tuesday, 4 December, will be occupied by workshops and circuits. At 12:00 the Faculty of Social Sciences will host a workshop of alternative communication of Tablero Bliss and at 13:00, a circuit of awareness by Rosa Quilis, rehabilitation technic of ONCE. In the afternoon at 16:00 there will be a round table comprised of experts in the field of integration of people with disabilities, who will discuss about the educational needs at the University. The session will conclude with a musical performance of the band Bona Gent Sound (18:00).
The closing day, Wednesday, 5 December, includes two conferences. De la rehabilitació a la recuperació de les persones amb TMG, will be the first (12:00) by Begoña Frades, head of the Area of Mental Health of the Pare Jofré Hospital and president of the Valencian Association for Rehabilitation and Social Integration of persons with mental illness. After (12:45), Ana Sánchez, clinical psychologist of the USM Font de Sant Lluís and president of the Spanish Association of Neuropsychiatry of the Valencian Country, will discuss about rehabilitation in severe mental disorder.
At 13:30, the Vice-Principal for Teaching Staff and Academic Planning, Maria Vicenta Mestre, will close the Week for the Integration of the University at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Parallel to these events, can be visited different exhibitions of works created by members of the associations FEAPS-CV and Auxilia.
