The University of Valencia’s Philharmonic Orchestra opens, for another year, a period to incorporate new musicians. In order to be a part of the University of Valencia’s Philharmonic Orchestra you have to pass an audition, which will take place next 20 October.
People interested cannot be over 23 years old and must be taking at least the last years of the professional degree in music. Studying at the university will be valued. Auditions are opened for violin, viola, violoncello, double bass, oboe, fagot, acute tube, bass tube, tenor trombone, bass trombone, tube and harp.
Pre-enrollment is completely free and must be done through the form found at http://www.uv.es/pam or calling the Trust for Musical Activities at 96 398 30 71 or 96 398 31 96 before next 16 September.
Since its creation in 1985, the Philharmonic Orchestra has become one of the most relevant orchestras within the Spanish University scene. Each year, it incorporates new students and gives a high quality formation in orchestral interpretation to the 80 young students who comprise it. The Orchestra has been directed by Hilari Garcia since 2011.
The Orchestra offers its members economic helps for music formation, pedagogic and musical formation, soloist promotion and chamber groups, the possibility of a national or international tour and academic recognition for those students from the University of Valencia (five free-elective credits/two ECTS credits per course).
Courses for piano and string instruments
During the whole year, the Trust for Musical Activities organizes theoretical and practical courses in order to form, in all musical branches, both for the University community and for the general public. Although most of the offered courses have already been done, there are still a couple of them left.
Concretely, in October a course on repertory and interpretation techniques for piano and a course on interpretation with string instruments: soloist repertory will take place. Due to the fact that these are very specialized courses they are aimed at people with professional music knowledge who want to improve their competences and who have difficulties for finding this kind of teachings. All courses are ratified for credits.
