Fernando Valladares, from the CSIC, opens the second part of the series of conferences on environmental thinking

This is the first conference from the second part of the series “Environmental thinking and climate action” that will take place in Gandia during the second semester of the academic year. The programme of conferences and round table can be followed in person or online.

Fernando Valladares, research professor at the CSIC, gave the conference “Environmental crisis and planetary health” on Thursday 24th February in Gandía, as part of the series “Environmental thinking and climate action”.

Valladares is doctor on Biological Sciences at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, with extraordinary awards for his licenciatura and doctorate and the Mason H. Jale International Award (Canada, 1994). He is currently a research professor at the CSIC, where he heads the Ecology and Global Change group at the National Museum of Natural Sciences (MNCN-CSIC) and adjunct professor at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos in Madrid.

A full and diverse programme
Fernando Valladares’ conference opens the second part of this series that is taking place at the Gandia International Centre of the UV during this academic year. The rest of the series will be held between Thursday 10th and 24th March. Architect Natalia García will speak on Thursday 10th March about the restoration of cities. Meanwhile, on 24th March, it will be the turn of José Vicente Soler, General Director of Sustainable Economy of the Generalitat Valenciana, who will give the conference “Sustainability and non-financial information in SMEs”. Registrations for these talks will begin a few days before they take place and can be formalised through the Gandía International Centre website.

As a novelty this year, this series is organised as a part of the new Postgraduate Diploma on Climate Change and Environmental Sustainability that is being taught at the CIG-UV since this year.
