Josep Ramoneda (1949) is a journalist, philosopher and writer in Catalan and Spanish. He has been director of the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona from 1989 to 2011. He has a degree in Philosophy from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where he was a professor of Contemporary Philosophy from 1975 to 1990. He was also a significant member of the Escola de filosofía de Barcelona, which modernised Catalan philosophical thought during the Spanish democratic transition. He has written the preface for books in Catalan by Michel Foucault, Locke, Montesquieu, and Nietzsche. He is a columnist and commentator on various media. He has published several books, the most recent of which is 'La izquierda necesaria'.
