The Family is the basis of the Catholic society in which we live and the mother its devouring vortex. Strindberg shows us the last days of a bourgeois family who are fallen on hard times. A family in which cold and hunger are imposed by a mother who devours everything that surrounds her. A family portrait of the society in which he lives.
