The Science Park and the Chair for Scientific Dissemination start off on Tuesday the activities of the First Week of Innovation at the University of Valencia. It is a cultural initiative open to all audiences, intended to create discussion around the theme of Innovation, a staple of progress that draws on diverse sources, from science, research and technology, art and creativity in its broadest sense. The program proposes five debates in different formats and an attractive conference that will give way to Expociencia 2013.
Biotechnology --powerful tool in the service of Medicine, Pharmacology, Agriculture ... - and technological progress in general, with its ethical and legal implications; the status of the transfer of knowledge, that big and thorny pillar in the framework of Innovation; entrepreneurship culture, the great unknown of the educational system; and art in the 21st century, beyond the fashions are the main starting questions that will be posed at the 1st Innovation Week.
"This is to bring to the foreground the arguments that explain the state of innovation in our environment," said Juan Antonio Raga, director of the PCB at the University of Valencia. The idea is to analyze and discuss ahead of the renewal of the processes that give rise to the great 'European paradox', which hampers innovation, i.e. processes that make countries that are capable of producing science internationally not find the formula to transfer that potential practically for society. "
The conference, to be held between 14 and 25 May, mainly in Cerveró Palace (see attached program by CLICKING HERE), will also deal with more critical aspects of innovation. "The innovations launched us to the future, but this does not mean that the future will be better than the present," says Fernando Sapiña, member of the Chair for Science Dissemination and director of ICMUV. "At present, many innovations, emerging or from the future, generate a debate between technical utopias and social dystopias. Utopians celebrate the new possibilities that innovations will open, while the dystopians state their destabilizing potential," he concludes.
The 1st Innovation Week will feature the participation of researchers, journalists and prestigious businessmen and representatives of leading institutions.
