The Faculty of Social Sciences from the Universitat de València has started an initiative to create a documental archive about the effects of the DANA from the 29 October and its repercussions on the affected population.
The project is open to the collaboration of the university community (students, teaching and research staff, research staff in training, and administration and services technical staff) so they can contribute with material that allows the elaboration and enlargement of this archive. The initiative has been structured in three phases.
-
Documentation phase
In the first one, there is a form to upload the different digital materials (videos, audios, photos, etc.) in any format, from the 29 October 2024 onward. This would be the documentation phase and in order to not slow down the work of volunteers, it has been stipulated a series of rules to follow.
-
Analysis phase
The second phase is of analysis. The repository will be in disposition for the research community both from the Universitat de València and other institutions. This will be done through the Social·Lab- Social Sciences Laboratory from the Faculty of Social Sciences. The repository will be of free access.
-
Publication phase
On a third phase it has been discussed the publication of the materials that have made use of this repository, either with a complete text, or a link to the publications, based on the publication rights. This includes the documentaries and audio-visual and graphic material product of the enquiry of the repository and also the research material (TFG, TFM, research projects, doctoral theses, etc.) that have made use of it.
As the Dean of the Faculty explains, Elena Mut, “we hope that this repository is useful as a tool to review the social structural process in which Valencian society is absorbed -like mobility, urban planning, working and residing posts, relationship between capital and the metropolitan area-, enough to think about the administration of natural catastrophes, politics process associated, recovering of the people, of their life conditions, housing and work, public services (education, health,...), among others”.
