  • Welcome Concert at the University of Valencia

The Music Club of the Office of the Vice-principal for Culture seeks to promote the diffusion of musical culture among members of the university community and, by extension, to the society to which the University of Valencia belongs. For this, it organises throughout the year a series of activities that channel this projection of musical culture. The main activities are chamber music concerts (instrumental and vocal) in the concert halls of the University of Valencia, such as the Matilde Salvador Hall and the Sapiencia Chapel at the historical building of La Nau, the Montaner concert hall of the Lluís Vives Hall of Residence, the Muralla Room of the Rector Peset Hall of Residence or the Botanical Gargen (both at the Teaching Unit and the Joan Plaça concert hall). Moreover, the Theatre Club helps organise activities with other sections of the Office of the Vice-principal for Culture (such as the Debate Forum) or with other centres, such as the faculties.
It tries to support Valencian music, through the systematic inclusion of Valencian composers in the concert programme and, at the same time, of authors that belong to the area of culture of the Xarxa Vives d'Universitats (Vives network). Nonetheless, the programme is open to all kind of authors and styles, paying particular attention to early music and music from the 20th century. It also organises other activities: round-table discussions (such as "Im memoriam" of the music critic Gonzalo Badenes) and lectures (such as the series of tributes to Matilde Salvador), which focus on topics of Valencian music. It collaborates closely with the Area for Musical Activities of the University of Valencia General Foundation, both in the organisation of concerts as in the joint participation in training activities.
