The aim of the Aula de Poesia is to encourage the dissemination and study of poetry from a critical perspective through a variety of cultural activities such as lectures, discussions with authors, book presentations, round tables, poetry readings and conferences dedicated to research and the transfer of knowledge. Its programme is designed for the entire university community, which is why there are also educational activities for students, such as workshops or writing courses, as well as the creation of the Verso Libre cycle, created so that young university poets have a place to discuss their projects and exhibit their own creations.

The Aula de Poesia aims to be a meeting place open to society, where not only poets, professors and researchers can participate, but it can also serve as a space for plural and critical cultural debate. The Aula organises the César Simón Poetry Prize of the University of Valencia with the aim of promoting the creation of poetry in Spanish and the dissemination of the award-winning works in the university context and in society in general. The winning book is published by Publicacions de la Universitat de València.
