Evolution of ecological interactions. This line of work investigates how the evolutionary history of different lineages explains the ecological interactions among them and the emergent properties that arise from these interactions. Under this prism, the phylogenetic conservatism of ecological interactions in the tree of life is traced, which provides an excellent clue to predict the interactions that can occur to form natural communities and the resulting ecosystem services. For this purpose, phylogenetic methods as well as complex networks are applied.
