Marta Albelda Marco is an Associate Professor at the University of Valencia (Spain). She is a member of Val.Es.Co. Researching Group (Valencia Español Coloquial), devoted to the study of Spoken Colloquial Spanish. She co-leads the project “Pragmatics attenuation and its genre variation: written and oral discursive genres in European an Latin American Spanish” (www.esvaratenuacion.es). Among her interests are the analysis of oral and colloquial language, the pragmatic communication, corpus linguistics, evidentiality and the pragmatic categories of attenuation and intensification. Adrián Cabedo Nebot is currently a full professor of Spanish language at the University of Valencia. He graduated with honors in Hispanic Philology in 2004. He has completed various postgraduate diplomas, including the Advanced Studies Diploma in 2006, the Methodology and Didactics of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE) in 2007, and Forensic Linguistics from Pompeu Fabra University (2007-2008). He also completed a university postgraduate specialist course in Web Application Design and Development at UNED in 2012. Finally, he obtained his PhD with the highest distinction, Cum Laude, in 2009.

He has developed almost his entire academic career at the University of Valencia, initially as a Cinc Segles predoctoral research fellow (2006-2009), a part-time lecturer (2009-2014), an assistant professor (2014-2019), an associate professor (2019-2024), and currently as a full professor. He also worked as a part-time lecturer at Ghent University (Belgium) during the 2013-2014 academic year. Over this period, he has achieved 3 triennials, 2 five-year teaching periods, and 2 research sexennials recognized positively by the AVAP (Valencian Agency for Assessment and Foresight). Later, upon securing the associate professorship, the CNEAI (Spanish National Commission for the Evaluation of Research Activity) also awarded him two positive research evaluations (2007-2012 and 2013-2018).

In terms of teaching, in recent years, he has specialized in courses such as Phonetics and Phonology, Dialectology and Sociolinguistics, and subjects like Statistics for Linguists. Additionally, he has participated in various research projects, including the project *Pragmatic Attenuation in Gender Variation* (2017-2020), funded by the Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness, led by professors Marta Albelda and Maria Estellés.

Regarding his publications, he is the author, either individually or collaboratively, of 3 books, 7 book chapters, and 21 research articles. He has contributed book chapters to two monographs published by John Benjamins and another volume by Mouton de Gruyter in 2018. All these publications share a common focus on the use of linguistic corpora, prosody, and advanced statistical data analysis. As for his articles, he has published in high-impact journals such as *Journal of Pragmatics*, *Oralia*, *Onomázein*, *Signos*, *Journal of Politeness Research*, *RILCE*, *RILI*, and *Spanish in Context*.

He has attended over 30 conferences in Spain and 5 abroad. To mention a few, he has participated in several Symposia of the Spanish Society of Linguistics (2006-2018), multiple IPRA conferences (Manchester 2011, New Delhi 2013, Antwerp 2015, Ireland 2017), an EDICE program conference (Colombia 2010), and the Hispanistentag (Heidelberg 2016). Currently, he supervises 4 doctoral theses and has acted as an external reviewer for various journals such as *Oralia*, *Estudios de Fonética Experimental*, and *Journal of Politeness Research*. Since 2015, alongside professor Antonio Hidalgo, he has co-edited the journal *Normas*, specializing in research topics in the Spanish language.

I am a Professor of Spanish Language in the Department of Spanish Philology at the University of Valencia. I earned my PhD in Hispanic Philology in 1996 and was awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize in 1997. My research activities have primarily focused on the study of colloquial language use, and I am a founding member of the Val.Es.Co. research group (Valencia, Colloquial Spanish). I have dedicated a significant portion of my work to the analysis of intonation functions in spoken language. In this area, I have published notable works such as 'La Entonación coloquial. Función Demarcativa y Unidades de Habla' (1997, Universitat de València), 'Comentario Fónico de Textos coloquiales' (2002, Arco-Libros), 'Aspectos de la entonación española: viejos y nuevos enfoques' (2006, Arco Libros), 'El estudio de la prosodia en España en el S. Ana Belén Llopis Cardona is an Associate Professor in the Department of Spanish Philology and a member of the research group. Her research focuses on linguistic, sociocultural, and historical pragmatics.

She is the author of a monograph Aproximación funcional a los marcadores discursivos. Análisis y propuesta lexicográfica (2014), published by Peter Lang, as well as several book chapters and articles in specialised journals (e.g. Revista Española de Filología, Rilce, Journal of Pragmatics, Onomázein, Communication & Society, Verba, Journal of Historical Pragmatics, Languages). Recently, she has edited a monograph Culturas juveniles, contracultura y procesos de difusión en el español coloquial in the journal Spanish in Context.

She has been part of the research team for competitive regional and national projects. Additionally, she has served as the principal investigator for the project “Difusión del cambio lingüístico en el español coloquial durante los últimos cincuenta años” (GV/2020/157). In 2023, she was awarded Beca Leonardo a Investigadores y Creadores Culturales de la Fundación BBVA.

Víctor Pérez Béjar is Profesor Ayudante Doctor (‘Assistant Professor’) at the Universitat de València, in the Department of Spanish Philology in the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. He holds a degree in Hispanic Philology, a master’s degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies and a PhD in Philological Studies from the University of Seville. He belongs to the “Argumentación y Persuasión en Lingüística” (Argumentation and Persuasion in Linguistics) (APL) research group. He is currently secretary of the journal Quaderns de Filologia: Estudis Lingüístics/Estudis Literaris. He has been secretary of the Board of Directors of the Asociación de Jóvenes Lingüistas and has been a member of the editorial board of the journal Estudios interlingüísticos, where he is now a member of the scientific committee.

He has participated in several research projects related to Pragmatics and Discourse Analysis, his main research fields. He is currently a member of the research team of the project “Las relaciones en la construcción del discurso: un enfoque multidimensional” (‘Relations in discourse construction: a multidimensional approach’) (PID2021-122115NB-I00). His work deals with topics such as constructional patterns in Spanish, macro-syntax or discourse grammar, or argumentative discourse in different fields (computer-mediated discourse, advertising, institutional or political discourse). He is the author of the book Las construcciones suspendidas en español. Un paradigma en gramática del discurso (‘Suspended constructions in Spanish. A paradigm in discourse grammar’) (2024).

Julia Sanmartín Sáez is Professor of the Department of Spanish Philology (teaching area of Spanish Language) at the University of Valencia since 2001. She has four six-year research periods and five five-year teaching periods. She has been director of the Master's Degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies (2010-2012), secretary of IULMA (2015-2018) and coordinator of International Programmes managed by the Vice-Rectorate for International Relations (2003-2019).

She received her PhD in Hispanic Philology from the University of Valencia, with an extraordinary doctorate prize, with a thesis on the slang of delinquency (awarded the Fernández Abril prize by the RAE). She has maintained this first line of research until the present day, focusing on the characterisation of group slang based on its detection in primary sources (oral, media and digital) and from different perspectives (thus, the use of slang as a stylistic resource). He has combined this lexicological perspective with the lexicographical one by publishing a Diccionario de argot (Espasa, 1998-2006) and with the metalexicographical one by dealing with the description of slang dictionaries and markup in lexicography.

Since 1993, she has been a member of the VALESCO Research Group, and has developed a second line of work with continuous work on the collection and analysis of three oral corpora. She has participated with the VALESCO Group in the elaboration of a corpus of colloquial conversations (Corpus de conversaciones coloquiales (Arco, 2002), in the development of a system for the recognition of colloquial conversation; in the delimitation of discourse units, Un sistema de unidades para el estudio del lenguaje coloquial (Estudios de Lingüística del Español, 2014); and in the drafting of the Diccionario de Partículas Discursivas del español (online, 2008). He has also collaborated with the PRESEEA project (Gómez Molina coord. 2001) in obtaining the corpus, El español hablado de Valencia, and with GRUPO PERLA (Gallardo Paúls 2005) in the edition of a corpus of aphasic language. His continued dedication to obtaining oral corpora has enabled him to design a proposal for the transcription of spoken language and an evaluation of the different transcription systems.

Since 2000, he has developed a third area of specialisation with the pragmalinguistic analysis of the lexicon of colloquial Spanish (common slang or urban jargon). He has studied the different procedures of lexical creation and, in particular, he has reviewed metaphor, borrowings and suffixation.  It has also initiated a novel analysis by detecting and quantifying the productivity of word formation procedures linked to the colloquial in three corpora (oral, media and digital). It has thus contributed to the knowledge of the colloquial lexicon, to the detection of its primary digital sources (social networks) and to the identification of lexical novelties in this register. Moreover, it has now added a diachronic perspective to the study of the colloquial lexicon, considering its evolution from the 20th to the 21st century.

In 2004, he has initiated a fourth line of research in neology, by setting up and directing the Neology Group of the University of Valencia, which collaborates with OBNEO in the project of the Network of Observatories of Neology of Peninsular Spanish (NEOROC). From this research orientation, he has published several studies on neologisms, focusing on the analysis of neologisms in the media from a contrastive geolectal perspective and on the revision of procedures more closely linked to the informal register, such as shortenings.

A fifth line of research has been the study and characterisation of digital genres, a line that began in 2008 with Chat. La conversación tecnológica (Arco Libro) and continued today with the delimitation of a theoretical proposal to describe the cyber-genres of tourism 2.0 (institutional websites and social networks), as well as the responses to digital comments, considered as a chained genre. This line of research is linked to the consideration that responses to comments respond to a series of attenuation and politeness strategies, including the treatment formulas themselves.

The sixth line of research began in 2010 with the analysis of the tourism lexicon and the publication of a multilingual tourism lexicographical resource: Cometval Group Multilingual Dictionary of Tourism (online, 2014). He has developed the analysis of the tourism lexicon both from a lexicological orientation and from a perspective closer to the terminology and terminological regulation of the sector, always from the consideration that the lexicon must be inserted in specific discursive coordinates (discursive genres) and in its variability in the geolectal framework.

Finally, she has been integrated in the ESPRINT project that investigates pragmatic-rhetorical strategies in the conflictive conversational interaction between intimates and acquaintances; and she has published several articles on this issue, such as the way of reproducing the discourse used by the therapist in couple therapie.

All these lines of research have contributed to the results of the nine research projects in which he has participated or directed, including, among others, and Discursive Particles of Spanish, , Pragmatic attenuation in spoken Spanish: its diaphasic and diatopic variation, The measurement of neologicity and dictionariness of neologisms in Spanish and especially, Lexical and discursive analysis of parallel and comparable corpora (Spanish-English-French) of tourism promotion websites; and the two most recent ones, Pragmatic-rhetorical strategies in conflictive conversational interaction between intimates and acquaintances: intensification, attenuation and interactional management (ESPRINT) and Contributions to a diachronic characterisation of the twentieth century.
