The Faculty of Geography and History will hold a welcome event on 2 October, especially aimed at first-year students
The Faculty of Geography and History will hold a new welcome event for the 2026-2027 academic year on Friday, 2 October 2026, from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm.
Following the postponement of the original event, the Faculty has prepared a more focused and practical programme, while maintaining the same objective: to offer first-year students a warm, useful and participatory reception, and to formally welcome them to the GeoHist community.
The event will begin at 11.30 am in the Joan Fuster Assembly Hall, located on the first floor of the Faculty, with an institutional welcome introducing some of the main services, programmes and opportunities available to students.
During this first part of the event, representatives of the Dean’s Office and different Faculty units will provide useful information on:
- academic organisation and degree programmes;
- enrolment, administrative procedures and the electronic office;
- exchange and mobility programmes;
- educational quality and innovation;
- employment and entrepreneurship;
- student participation;
- mentoring programmes, open days and other initiatives;
- cultural activities;
- and student representation.
The session will also include the presentation of the second edition of the ADR Short Short Story Awards and the awarding of certificates to the graduates with the best academic records from the 2024-2025 academic year.
A CULTURAL GATHERING AT ÀGORA PROMETEU
From 12.30 pm, the welcome event will continue at Àgora Prometeu in a more relaxed and participatory setting.
Valencian culture will take centre stage with the participation of the Associació Musical Colla de Dolçainers i Tabaleters Els Bessons. Traditional dolçaina and tabal music will accompany this gathering of students, teaching staff and the wider university community.
There will also be a tasting of orxata provided by Orxateria RIN in Alboraia, a welcome photo opportunity and the participation of the Faculty’s mentors, who will explain how they support new students as they settle into university life.

Introduction to the Dean’s Office, services, university programmes, mobility opportunities, student participation, employment, entrepreneurship and the Faculty’s main resources.
12.30-2.30 pm. Welcome gathering. Àgora Prometeu
- Orxata, lemon granita and fartons.
- Music by the Colla de Dolçainers i Tabaleters Els Bessons.
- Participation of mentors from the Entreiguals programme (SEDI).
- Welcome photo opportunity.
The event is especially aimed at students beginning their studies this year, but is open to the entire Faculty community.
This activity has received funding from the Language and Language Policy Service through the 2026 funding scheme for activities in Valencian.
