The SYM group of the IDM offers a contract for Graduate, Master or Doctor in chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology, in a project of Environmental Air Quality Assessment.

Interested send CV to malube@upv.es

Profile. The objective of the Environmental Air Quality Assessment project is to develop biosensor systems to determine air quality in environments such as hospitals, classrooms, etc. The aim is to develop a system for sampling and detecting microorganisms in the air, communicated with the renovation and air conditioning equipment. For this reason, we will work with other personnel, in charge of system integration engineering tasks. At the same time, teamwork will be carried out with healthcare personnel involved in the validation of developments in critical areas of hospitals. The project has an orientation distributed between chemistry, health and the environment. The line, very innovative, has great socio-economic interest, as could be seen in the Covid 19 pandemic.

Previous training and experience to be assessed in: chemistry, biochemistry, biotechnology, at a graduate or higher level (master or doctor), profiles with training in chemical engineering and materials engineering, pharmacy are also contemplated.

Functions and tasks to perform

General: Development of methodologies, means and reagents for taking samples of ambient air, continuous determination of the microbial load. For this, different detectors will be tested working in immunochemical assays, using different bioreceptors, preferably phages. NOTE: contracted personnel will only work with microorganisms that are harmless to humans.

Individuals:

- Selection of methodologies and means of sampling microorganisms in air.

- Selection and fine-tuning of high-sensitivity immunointeraction detectors to choose from among those sensitive to mass changes, interferometric signals, or plasmon resonance. Treatment of materials for the immobilization of specific immunoreactives.

- Test optimization. Expansion to methods of simultaneous detection of several pathogens. - Set-up of a demonstrator in collaboration with clinical staff

It is considered to carry out training stays in national and/or international research centers related to the objectives of the project.
