  • Renewable energies and energetic efficiency

IDM develops R&D&I and specific formative activities in several fields related to renewable energies, energetic efficiency of electronic systems and the integration of energy generated through renewable resources in the network of electric supply.

Regarding the courses on specific formation, we organize and collaborate in formative courses on the following areas:

- Photovoltaic solar power
- Solar thermal power
- Wind energy
-Environmental impact of renewable energies
-Hydrogen and fuel cells
- Potency electronics
-Digital family signal processors C2000
- Visual basic.net applied to the industrial environment.

The courses done by the Universitat Politècnica de Valencia usually last around 30 hours, being offered at the web site of the Centro de Formación de Postgrado de la UPV (cfp@cfp.upv.es), enrolment being availableon-line. Customized courses are offered in other municipalities, adjusting the contents and duration to the specific needs of the party to the contract of the formative services (from 45-minute conferences to courses with a longer duration).

The R&D&I activities are centred in potency electronic systems necessary for the connection to the electronic supplier network of the renewable sources and in potency systems to improve the quality of the electric supply and the energetic efficiency. The main research lines are summarized in the following points:

-Generation distributed by renewable energies (solar, wind, and fuel cells).
- Lamination of the demand through distributed storage.
-DC-DC Converser for optimization in the generation of electric energy through alternative renewable sources.
DC-AC converser (potency investors) for the connection to a network of distributed generation systems based on renewable sources.
-Improvement of the quality of electric supply through inefficiency correction (filters and active compensators without energy storage) and through an improvement of the electronic supply using potency electronic systems with characteristics of energy storage: STATCOM, UPFC, FACTS.
-Active rectifiers with potency unity factors.

For what regards activities for the development of renewable energies we supply technical assessment to enterprises and particulars interested on the implementation of energy generating systems based on renewable energies.

  • Electronic systems of connection potency to the electric supply network to:

a. Improvement of electric quality (without energy storage- Active Filters and Active Compensators).

-Full compensation
- Selective reactive compensation
- Selective compensation of imbalance
- Selective harmonic compensation

b. Improvement of electric quality (with energy storage- STATCOM, UPFC, FACTS).

- Improvement of holes
- Improvement of the electric signal’s characteristics

c. Generation distributed through renewable energies (solar, wind, and fuel cells).

d. Storage distributed in supercondensers, fuel cells, etc.

e. Alternative energy adapting conversers to connecting investors (DC-CD conversers).

f. Active rectifiers with unity potency factor.
