In management systems (related to quality, the environment, etc.) based on national or international standards, audits are themselves a management tool that aim to verify that the activities or an organisation (service, unit, etc.) meet the requirements of their management system and of the reference standard (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.) The audit findings are used to assess the effectiveness of the management system in achieving the objectives specified and to identify opportunities for improvement.
First party or internal audits are carried out for internal purposes by the organisation, or on its behalf, and may be the basis for the self-declaration of conformity of the organisation.
The Quality Unit can perform internal audits of management systems based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 17025 and UNE 170001-2 standards, on request from the services/units that are implementing their management system or that already have the corresponding recognition.
