Julia Aguilar Miquel holds a degree in Classical Philology from the Complutense University of Madrid (2014). She completed the Master's in Teacher Training with a specialization in Classical Languages (2015) and the Interuniversity Master's in Classical Philology (2016) at the same institution. Her academic background has been further enhanced through courses in paleography, codicology, and textual criticism at the University of Pavia, the Central European University in Budapest, and the SISMEL in Florence. In 2020, she earned her Ph.D. at the Complutense University of Madrid with the thesis Los Sententiarum libri V de Tajón de Zaragoza: edición crítica, traducción y estudio [The Sententiarum libri V by Tajón of Zaragoza: critical edition, translation, and study], achieving the grade of sobresaliente cum laude. For this work, she received several accolades: the 2020 Outstanding Ph.D. Award (UCM), the 2021 Premio alla Ricerca from the Associazione Internazionale di Studi Tardoantichi (Naples), the 2022 Maurizio Bellina Prize from the Fondazione Enzo Franceschini (Florence), and the second prize from the Fundación Pastor de Estudios Clásicos (2021). After obtaining her doctorate, she was hired as a postdoctoral researcher at KU Leuven (Belgium) in the project Magnum opus et arduum: naar een receptiegeschiedenis van Augustinus De civitate Dei [3H170335]. Since 2021, she has been an Assistant Professor at the Department of Classical Philology at the University of Valencia. She has completed funded research stays abroad at the École Pratique des Hautes Études (Paris) (2018), the University of Milan (2019), and the University of Cambridge (2024). Her research career focuses on textual criticism, paleography, codicology, and the history of Late Antiquity, Early Medieval, and Patristic Latin texts. Among the authors she has extensively worked on are Augustine of Hippo, Tajón of Zaragoza, and Quiricus of Barcelona. She is the author of the first critical edition of Sententiae by Tajón of Zaragoza, published in the Corpus Christianorum series (Taio Caesaraugustanus. Liber sententiarum, Turnhout: Brepols, 2023, cxcvii + 524 pages, Corpus Christianorum. Series Latina, vol. 116A). The results of her research have been published or are in press in high-impact national and international journals such as Symbolae Osloenses (Oslo), Revue d’Histoire des Textes (Paris), Wiener Studien (Vienna), Revue d'études augustiniennes et patristiques (Paris), Medium Aevum (Oxford), Bulletin du Cange (Paris), Sacris Erudiri (Turnhout), Euphrosyne (Lisbon), Agora (Aveiro), ReLat (Madrid), and Helmantica (Salamanca). Additionally, she has authored book chapters published by prestigious publishers such as Brill, SISMEL_Edizioni del Galluzzo, Dykinson, and Rhemata. She has also contributed to the catalog of medieval manuscripts from the Biblioteca Histórica Marqués de Valdecilla (2019) and collaborated in the CLA CLA database (Brepols). She has participated in national and international scientific conferences held in Paris, Milan, Berlin, Leeds, Basel, Dublin, Madrid, Salamanca, Oviedo, Granada, León, and Barcelona, and has been part of various funded research projects. |

Biography | ||
Graduate in History —specializing in the History of Precapitalist Societies (UAB)— and in Classical Philology (UB) —with the final year completed at the Complutense University thanks to a Séneca mobility scholarship—. Master's degree in Classical Philology at the Autonomous University of Madrid (master's degree with teaching shared by the Autonomous, the Complutense, and the University of Alcalá), to access the Doctorate in Ancient World Studies by enrolling the thesis at the Complutense. FPU scholarship holder of the Department of Greek Philology at the Complutense University of Madrid and PhD in Ancient World Studies with a thesis titled «The Trojan Chronicle of Dictys of Crete. Epic Plot and False History» within the research project «Forgeries and Forgers of Ancient Texts». The thesis received the qualification of 'Outstanding cum Laude' and, a year later, the 'Extraordinary Doctorate Award'. Assistant professor at the University of Valencia since 2017 and Contracted Doctor since 2021 (currently, 'permanent staff professor'). Priority research areas: literature of the Roman imperial era and the theory of literary genres, particularly regarding mythography and historiography, from the perspective of narratology (specifically, on the strategies of narrator authorization).
