The Master’s offers a seminar on plural perspectives in secondary education

The seminar “The gaze intervenes upon what it observes. Plural perspectives on Secondary Education” will take place next 18 April.

This seminar mainly covers topics in relation with philosophy and education sciences, yet is directed towards students of all branches of the Master’s programme. Its objective is to broaden the perspectives for the studies and inform future teachers.

The seminar will begin with a conference on “Pathways to Civic Education in UNESCO and OECD: some reflections for the Spanish curriculum", by Maria Jesús Martínez Usarralde, professor at the Department of Comparative Education and History of Education, and Sara Ibañez Cano, PhD student in Local Development and International Cooperation.

Next, Amparo Zacarés Pamblanco, Doctor in Philosophy and author of Philosophy and poetry (orig.: Filosofía y poesía), will offer a  lecture titled “Curriculum, critical thinking and philosophical attitude”.

Next, after a small break,
José Beltrán Llavador, former director of the Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology, will give a lecture titled “Education is a journey. A letter to Alicia, student of the Master’s degree in Secondary Education Teacher Training".

Lastly,
Francesc J. Hernàndez and Carles Hernández, co-authors of Education (orig: L’educació), will close this event with a lecture titled “Education from the perspective of philosophy, sociology and pedagogy: Let’s rewrite ‘Doctrina pueril’ by Ramon Llull!".

This conference event will take place the evening of Thursday 18 April 2024 at the Assembly Hall of the former Faculty of Teacher Training. Attendance will be certified.
