The female team of the Universitat de València reached de podium in the basketball CEU celebrated in Murcia from the 17 to the 19 of May.
16 female teams and 15 male teams from universities form all over Spain competed at the San Javier Sports Centre (Murcia), where they fought for medals over three intense days.
In the female category the girls from the Universitat de València got through the first day by topping the group. They won against the University of Vigo team with a score of 50-26, against the University of León with a score of 38-29, and against the girls from País Vasco with a score of 36-19. The female team reached the semi-final undefeated, but lost against the hosting university, the match ended with a score of 62-52 in favour of the UCAM -Catholic University of Saint Anthony of Murcia-. They fought for the third place against the Barcelona University and won with a score of 72-62 achieving a meritorious bronze.
In the male category, the boys from the Universitat de València did not achieve such good results. The UV team came down against the University of Barcelona with a score of 57-49 in the first match of the championship. Against the Ray Juan Carlos University team, the score was 35-47 in favour of the Madrid team. In the third match, the Universitat de València competed against the IE University, whom they beat with a resounding 64-23 however this result was not enough to go up in the classification and they finished third in their group which did not allowed them to qualify for the semi-finals.
