Academic, scientific or professional interest: The Master’s degree in Environmental Pollution and Ecotoxicology that the Universitat de València offers has its origin in the Doctoral Studies Programme in Environmental Pollution (not imparted now), with the postgraduate university-specific degree Master’s degree in Environmental Health and the Master's degree in Pollution, Toxicology and Environmental Health. Moreover, the master's degree in Environmental Pollution and Ecotoxicology was born as an answer to the demand that the students have been showing to the specific degree of the Universitat de València Master's degree in Environmental Health, with 13 consecutive editions (1996-2006) and more of 200 graduated students and the official title Master's Degree in Environmental Pollution, Toxicology and Health (CTSA), with 11 consecutive editions (2009-19). On the other hand, there are current issues that demand R+D+I in the sector of Environmental Pollution and Ecotoxicology: - Environmental and human health risk assessment (European Union Regulations: REACH on chemical substances, BPR on biocidal products and CLP on labelling and packaging of chemical substances) - Programmes about monitoring ecosystem's health (Water Framework Directive, 2000/60/EC, Habitat Directive 92/43/ECC) - Legislation on soil protection and pollution (Law 22/2011 and Royal Decree 9/2005) - Legislation on water pollution - Sustainability - Administration and environmental management - Technological and R+D centres The proposal of the master's degree EP&E is superb because of: - the existence of social interest indicators that have fostered the incorporation of similar courses in the academic offer of Universities with recognized international prestige. - the growing demand of researchers specialised in this area, not only in technological centres but also in enterprises and public administration. - the interest of the scientific community in this research area, with reviews whose impact index keeps growing significantly every year. - the existence of research groups in this area, both in Universities and State Research Centres, that entail a great critical mass of researchers. - the collaboration with the Ibero-American Society of Environmental Pollution and Toxicology (SICTA) which guarantees both teacher quality and mobility of Spanish, Portuguese and Ibero-American students while coursing the Master’s degree. - the high scientific level and research reputation of the implied teachers.
