Marisol Lila Murillo, Head of Contexto Programme, was awarded the Silver Medal for Social Merit in the Prison Service in recognition of her outstanding work promoting social integration through intervention with men who have perpetrated or perpetrate intimate partner violence.

On 24 September 2025, coinciding with the celebration of the Day of Our Lady of Mercy, the ceremony for the presentation of medals and decorations for Prison Merit and Prison Social Merit was held at the Torre de Espioca Social Integration Centre in Picassent (Valencia). The ceremony was led by the Director of the Social Integration Centre, Miguel Ángel Martínez, who thanked and recognised the work, effort and professionalism of the civil servants and individuals who collaborate with the prison institution in Valencia. Special mention was given to the award recipients, whose exceptional commitment has significantly contributed to service quality and social reintegration.

The Prison Social Merit Medal is awarded to institutions, corporations, foundations, associations, public or private companies and individuals who have distinguished themselves in their collaboration with the Prison Administration (Ministry of the Interior, Government of Spain). The silver medal, in particular, is awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to prison activities, especially in terms of the reintegration and socialisation of prisoners. This medal is awarded by resolution of the Directorate General of Prison Institutions.

Since 2006, the Contexto Programme has supported more than 1,500 men who have committed gender-based violence. Through intensive research and the continuous development of new intervention strategies, the programme has become a national and international benchmark in the field of intervention with men who perpetrate violence against their partners.

For Professor Marisol Lila and her team, receiving this award is an honour and a special recognition of years of dedication to social reintegration. Moreover, this distinction reinforces their commitment to the fight to eradicate gender-based violence.
