Language services for incoming students

Due to the current health situation, Valencian Workshops and Tastallengües will not be offered this term.

The Valencian Workshops

Do you want to take part in the local culture and language? Workshop leaders will introduce a wide variety of topics, including practical issues such as language resources, housing or public transportation, and also local customs.

Meeting locals: Tastallengües

The University organises this event at the beginning of the semester to help you meet local and international students and practise any languages you wish in a casual context. Food and music are provided for free, and you are welcome to bring along food and drink typical of your culture. Further information:

Free Catalan courses for beginners

The University has two official languages: Catalan (known locally as valencià) and Spanish (often referred to as castellà). Both are used for academic and administrative purposes, as well as for daily life.

Catalan is easy to understand and learn, especially if you already know another Romance language, such as Italian, French, Portuguese, Romanian or Spanish. With 10 million speakers, it's the official language in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, Valencia, Eastern Aragon, Andorra and Alghero (Italy). Take advantage of this opportunity and join a free UV Catalan course (A1 or A1+):
