This analysis aims to determine phylogenetic relationships among organisms. It can be performed with the ribosomal genes as well as those mentioned in the section on sequencing genomic regions.

In all cases it is advisable to use different phylogenetic reconstruction methods, as well as comparative analysis of the topology of the various phylogenetic trees and to calculate the robustness of each.

Necessary material

Sequences in FASTA format.

Methodology

The CECT offers sequence analysis of a genomic region obtained by the CECT or provided by the customer in FASTA format. To do so, comparison is made against sequences available in public databases for the type strains of the closest taxa.

Phylogenetic reconstruction methods used are Neighbour-joining (NJ), maximum parsimony-(MP) and maximum-likelihood (ML). The result obtained with each method is presented as a phylogenetic tree, including the bootstrap values obtained for each tree after 1000 replications.
