Two threats and one response: more democracy against climate change and artificial intelligence

Course of the 34th Edition of the Universitat d’Estiu de Gandia.

Two threats lie upon the future of humanity in middle term: climate change and the mastery of artificial intelligence over the human being.

In order to face these challenges, it is imperative that democracy, dramatically debilitated in the current times, recovers its vigour. In spite of the crisis of identity that surrounds Europe, it can and must contribute to the regeneration of democracy and thus put humanity in a position in which it can face the aforementioned risks that threaten its survival or freedom.
