Twenty two candidacies of students participate to the Universitat de València Senate elections that will be held this Thursday 20 November. The lists are posted at the Universitat Electoral Comission web, where you can consult them. Also there are vacancies parcially renewed of other university bodies.

This year, the electoral process brings important novelties, for example, a greater security in the acceptance of each candidature member and the possibility of submitting incomplete applications for the first time. Furthermore, this year is one of the last annual elections, given that the student representatives chosen for the claustrum in the year 2015-2016 will be in that position for two years.

The form for the representation of candidatures has been carried out electronically for the first time with the Entreu platform.

The changes in the process of candidature presentations have their origin in the application of the new regulation that organises the elections, approved in the University Senate unanimously. According to the delegate for Students, Daniel González, another novelty in the process “is that from the Delegate for Students, together with the Electoral Comission and throughouth the SeDi Information and Promotion Service and the Information Systems Service, we have started the digital electoral process. This digital platform will be ready on Friday so that the students can formalise the candidatures and their acceptance as members from a computer, with access security by means of username and password of Universitat de València”.

Elections to university Senate, centre boards, centre Student Council Branch (AdR) and department councils

In the elecction it is decided the renewal of all the students that constitute the Senate (75 student representatives, from a total of 300), the student representatives of the several Faculty Boards and Universitat School, the student representatives in the several centres Student Council Branches (AdR) and the student representatives in the Department Councils.

The Senate, among other functions, approves the objectives and management planning of the Universitat government, as well as the regulations with great importance for the institution as the Statutes, and also, they are an essential part of the debate about the topics of vital importance for the institution.

The delegate for Students has emphasised the importance of the students participation: “It is not only important the students participate in this process, it is also important people participate in all the representation and decision processes, generally, in all the processes that improve our democracy”.

This is why Daniel González encourages the participation in 20 November elections: “We have to encourage the students to actively participate in the election process and for those who do not want to be student representatives, to be aware that their vote is needed for their schoolmates. The greater the participation is, the stronger will be the voice of the students”.
