On 20 and 21 May, the partners of the AISHA – Artificial Intelligence Skills Hub Academy project gathered in Rome for the official kick-off meeting of this European initiative, which aims to contribute to the development of the future EU AI Skills Academy, one of the European Union’s flagship actions to strengthen AI skills and talent across Europe.
The meeting took place at the Data Science and Complexity for Society Centre of Sapienza Università di Roma and brought together representatives of the consortium institutions to define the shared vision of the project, its governance structure and the strategic roadmap that will guide its implementation over the coming years.
Participation in the meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences and establish the foundations for collaboration among the partners that will contribute to the development of the European academy.
AISHA is part of the European Commission’s efforts to strengthen Europe’s capabilities in artificial intelligence, particularly in areas related to education, professional training and the adaptation of skills to emerging labour market needs. The project seeks to contribute to the creation of a European ecosystem that connects education, research, innovation and productive sectors, fostering the responsible and competitive adoption of artificial intelligence technologies.
Project Work Areas
During the working sessions, consortium members addressed key issues related to the development of specialised training programmes, the identification of new qualification needs and the creation of tools to support and promote European talent in this field. The initiative will also place particular emphasis on inclusion, diversity and the promotion of accessible learning opportunities for a wide range of professional profiles.

The meeting also included the participation of representatives from the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HaDEA) and the European Commission’s AI Office, who provided guidance on the development of the European AI Skills Academy and its role within the renewed European framework for digital and innovation policies.
The event helped consolidate the foundations of a collaboration that will be essential in the years ahead. As highlighted during the meeting, cooperation among AISHA partners and the broader European AI ecosystem will be crucial to transforming the project’s objectives into concrete actions that strengthen Europe’s digital capabilities and prepare society for the opportunities and challenges associated with artificial intelligence.
