Presentation of the Cultural Heritage

The Historical, Artistic, Cultural, Natural, Scientific and Technological Patrimony of Universitat de València is a legacy of inimaginable value we must protect, preserve and make visible, as a community and society. To that end, the UV Area of Patrimony, guardian of the Historical artistic, Cultural, Natural, Scientific and Technological Patrimony and dependant on the Delegation of the Vice-Principal Office of culture and Society (RESOLUTION on 20 May 2022. [2022/4587] https://www.uv.es/transparent/Delegacions.pdf), it has been reinforced over these last years to guarantee its institutional commitment with the appointment of the heads of this initiative, responsible for museographic collections and area restructuration to provide more resources.

Throughout its five centuries of existence the University of Valencia has gathered a large and highly varied cultural heritage: a valuable legacy, a huge set, composed of paintings and sculptures, ancient and modern, with an outstanding series of portraits and books, which include hundreds of illuminated manuscripts and incunabula, tens of thousands of engravings, maps of great value, photographs, posters, coins, medals, jewellery, furniture, archaeological pieces, jewellery, scientific instruments and truly remarkable natural history collections. The architectural heritage deserves specific mention, it is particularly relevant and of great interest both for the intrinsic quality of the buildings that are still preserved and of those which have been destroyed, as for its importance in the planning and shaping of the image of the city that hosts them.
