Tresors a la llum: Obres o trobes en lahors de la Verge Maria

"Tresors a la Llum: discover the heritage of the UV" is a program of short videos presented by professors and specialists that bring us closer to the historical heritage of the University of Valencia. The last video published, presented by professor Antoni Ferrando, shows one of the treasures of the Historical Library, the incunabula "Obres o trobes en lahors de la Verge Maria",  the first Hispanic poetic print, produced in Valencia in 1474, and published with reason for a literary contest in the city. It is the only specimen known in the whole world.

Exhibition in preparation: Fire in the Library. Books that set the Europe of the Enlightenment on fire

The Historical Library is preparing the exhibition "Fire in the Library. Books that set the Europe of the Enlightenment on fire", curated by Nicolás Bas Martín, member of the Department of History of Science and Documentation of the Universitat de València. The project will be articulated around a selection of books considered best-sellers of the forbidden literature of the 18th century. Authors and works that from different points of view -philosophical, political, cultural, social and religious- advocated for a more democratic Europe against the absolutism of the Old Regime.

The exhibition will be complemented by a selection of contemporary artistic photographs of the twentieth century, in black and white, by the Valencian photographer Pedro Hernández, which aim to appeal the texts of the Age of Enlightenment.
