La Biblioteca Històrica of the UV unveils a jewel of Renaissance music

   The international magazine Fontes Artis Musicae he has published a study on an unknown copy of the Missarum liber de Cristóbal de Morales conserved at the Universitat de València.

   A work by the researchers Salvador Borja and Ferran Escrivá-Llorca  it brings to light a finding of great musicalological relevance in the collections of the Biblioteca Històrica of the UV (BH Z-08/008). It is a print made in Lyon by Jacques Moderne between 1546 and 1551 containing the Missarum liber primus i and the Missarum liber secundus.

   This volume is an exceptional piece because it unifies the Liber primus and the  Liber secundus in a single binding, being the only structurally complete specimen of this edition found in the Iberian Peninsula. The inventories of the time confirm the presence of the Morales masses in the Valencian ecclesiastical institutions since the end of the 16th century. With this publication, la Biblioteca Històrica reiterates its commitment to the dissemination and enhancement of its documentary heritage.

Opening of the exhibition "FRANCESC ALMELA I VIVES".

   On Wednesday, October 7, at 7:00 p.m., the exhibition opens "FRANCESC ALMELA I VIVES. Un altre intel·lectual oblidat", in the sala Duc de Calàbria.
   Francesc Almela i Vives is one of the most significant men of letters of the so-called generation of 1930. He presided over La Nostra Parla, an entity created in 1916 with nuclei in València, Palma and Barcelona. He participated in the foundation of the magazine Taula de Lletres Valencianes, and from this group he promoted a remarkable literary activity and in favor of the campaign for spelling unification, which would lead to the Castellón agreement of 1932.
   The war in Spain, which meant a profound break in cultural life, led many writers to silence or to a change of course. The exhibition will be structured around his facets of: journalist, bibliophile and bookseller, scholar, historian and disseminator.

   The exhibition will remain open from October 7, 2026 to January 3, 2027​​​​​​​.

Exhibition of facsimiles of the Biblioteca Històrica in FILUNI, Mexico

      The jewels of the Biblioteca Històrica de la Universitat de València (a selection of facsimiles of some of the most representative works, five manuscripts and ten printed works from the 15th and 16th centuries) have already begun their journey to Mexico. The exhibition 'Tint, parchment and paper. Treasures of the Biblioteca Històrica de la Universitat de València' is part of the cultural programming of the VIII International University Book Fair (FILUNI), which will be held from 25 to 30 August in the Sala Santos Balmori of the Casa Universitaria del Libro (CASUL), a cultural space of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and in which the Universitat de València will be the guest institution of honor.
     The exhibition is organized by the Biblioteca Històrica de la Universitat de València, in collaboration with the Office of the Vice-Principal for Culture, Sports and Social Link and the Publications Service of the Universitat de València, within the extensive program with which the University will participate in FILUNI.

Inauguració de l'exposició: La memòria de Jaume I. Edicions i traduccions del Llibre dels fets

Dita exposició s'inaugura dins de la JORNADA COMMEMORATIVA DEL 750 ANIVERSARI DE LA MORT DEL REI JAUME I, el propvinent dilluns, 27 de juliol, amb diferents actes, dins dels quals estaran:

A l'Aula Magna de la Universitat de València:

     16:00 h Inauguració de la Jornada. Salutació del Sr. Rector de la UV Juan Luis Gandía Cabedo. Intervenció del Sr. President de l'AVCO (Acadèmia Valenciana de Cronistes Oficials), Josep Ramon Sanchis Alfonso.

      16:20-17:00 h Conferència del Dr. Vicent Josep Escartí, Catedràtic de la UV: "La memòria de Jaume I. Edicions i traduccions del Llibre dels feits". 

 A la Sala Duc de Calàbria de la Biblioteca Històrica:

     17:10 h Inauguració de l'Exposició: "La memòria de Jaume I".  Intervencions de Na Maria Jesús García Mateu, Directora de la BH, i del En Antoni Ferrando Francés (AVCO), Comissari de l'Exposició.

L'exposició romandrà oberta del 27 de juliol fins al 27 de setembre de 2026.

Presentation of the book Centenar de la Ploma

On June 30 at 7 p.m., the book will be presented in the Duc de Calàbria room:: "El retaule de Sant Jordi de la companyia del Centenar de la Ploma de la ciutat de València" d'Antoni José i Pitarch i Maria Antònia Alsina Alsina.  In addition to the authors, Maria Jesús Garcia Mateu, director of Biblioteca Històrica and Mateu Rodrigo Lizondo, honorary professor of Medieval History of the UV, will speak.
