Exhibition in preparation: Books of the House of Osuna

In the Biblioteca Històrica, we are preparing the exhibition: "ENTRE PRESTATGES I LLINATGES: Els llibres de la Casa d’Osuna en la Universitat de València". Date: From 26 march 2026 to 5 july 2026.

In 1884, after difficult negotiations, the Spanish State acquired the library of the House of Osuna. The collections were distributed mainly between the National Library of Spain and the libraries of the Senate and Congress. In addition, between 1888 and 1892, the rest of the books were distributed among a dozen university libraries, among which, that of the Universitat de València.

This exhibition traces the route of this collection until its arrival in the Biblioteca Històrica of the Universitat de València and recognizes both the value of the preserved works and the task of location and classification of copies by the staff of the institution for years.

Presentation of the book “Tirant Lo Blanc: cavalleria, imaginari i escriptura ” de Rafael BELTRÁN

La Biblioteca Històrica us convida a la presentació del llibre de Rafael Beltrán "Tirant lo Blanc: cavalleria, imaginari i escriptura" el pròxim 10 de desembre a les 18.30 h a la Sala Duc de Calàbria de la Biblioteca Històrica (Edifici La Nau).

Hi intervendràn Joan Oleza, catedràtic emèrit de Literatura Espanyola; Teresa Ferrer, directora de Publicacions de la Universitat; i l’autor del llibre, Rafael Beltrán.
Presenta una anàlisi actualitzada de l'obra de Joanot Martorell, dels seus temes, personatges i context, i ofereix una lectura crítica útil tant per a especialistes com per al públic general.

Visit of King Felipe VI to the Biblioteca Històrica

On Tuesday, 25 November, the University of Valencia hosted the Solemn Opening Ceremony of the 2025–2026 Academic Year.

After the academic ceremony, King Felipe VI visited the Biblioteca Històrica, where he was received by Maria Jesús García Mateu, the library’s director.

Library closed for Valencian Book Day

Due to Valencian Book Day 2025, the Biblioteca Històrica will be closed on 19 November 2025. The continuous reading will take place in the Duc de Calàbria room from 10:30 a.m.

Dia del Llibre Valencià: La veu forta de Maria Beneyto

     Amb motiu del Dia del Llibre Valencià 2025, la Biblioteca Històrica organitza la lectura continuada de "La dona forta" de Maria Beneyto, dimecres 19 de novembre des de les 10:30 hores.

     La iniciativa té com a objectius promoure el coneixement de la llengua i cultura valencianes, donar a conéixer autors, autores i obres valencianes i apropar el patrimoni bibliogràfic a tota la societat.
