Open publishing has explored different formulas in order to cover the costs associated with publishing: the author pays out of pocket or through his research project, the institution to which the author belongs through subscriptions or agreements, foundations or mixed associations, or private assume the cost, etc.
The payment of the so-called APC fees (Article Publishing Charges) by the author, the "pay to publish" is the most widespread formula currently, and the one mainly used by journals with a presence in JCR.
DISCOUNTS TO PUBLISHING
The University of Valencia has agreements with some publishers to support open access (OA) publishing. Thanks to these agreements, UV authors who wish to publish in OA benefit from certain discounts, the amount of which varies depending on the publisher in question.

Ultimately, the conditions for access to the financing of publication fees are set by the publishers through their editorial policy and the agreement signed with each institution.
