The Historical Library has the Pérez Bayer research room, for consulting its collection. Moreover, the building has an open room, the Thesaurus Room, for group work and consultation of bibliographic resources in electronic version. This room has 42 seats: 18 for group work and 24 for individual work.

Access for consultation of the historical fund will be made in accordance with the rules:

1) - The Historical Library of the University of Valencia aims to preserve its bibliographic collection, making preservation and dissemination compatible. To meet this objective it is necessary to regulate the right of access to the consultation and use of the material kept.

The Historical Library has the Pérez Bayer room or research room for consulting manuscripts, incunabula, works printed between the 16th and the 20th centuries, rare books, plans, maps, prints, posters and printed press.
Users will be facilitated a copy of the bibliographic collections of particular value, manuscripts, incunabula, etc. Only researchers who must study the physical characteristics of the book (miniatures, paper, watermarks, etc.) will have access to it, under close surveillance.

2) - The following groups, through proper accreditation, can have access to the collection at the Pérez Bayer Room: 

  • Professors at the University of Valencia.
  • Spanish and/or foreign university professors.
  • Researchers at the CSIC and similar institutions in other countries.
  • Members of Spanish academies and similar institutions in other countries.
  • Librarians, documentalists, archivists and museologists.
  • People who hold a doctoral degree.

 The following groups must request a temporary card to consult the collection at the Pérez Bayer room:

University of Valencia students that need to consult the historical collection must submit a request to the head of the Libraries and Documentation Service, along with a letter of introduction from a professor, who will be responsible for the student during their stay at the Historical Library. The application must state the nature and the characteristics of the research, as well as the estimated duration.

Those who, not being included in the previous sections, are carrying out research work must submit a written request to the management of the library, who will process and send it to the Libraries and Documentation Service, along with a report accepting or rejecting the request. 3) - The rules concerning consultation of the bibliographical collection at the Pérez Bayer room shall also apply to the consultation of the historical collection deposited in all the libraries of the University of Valencia, including the Historical Medical Library.
