(10/04/2025, 7:00 p.m.). Luis Arciniega García, Art History professor of the UV, director of the Demetrio Ribes Chair and curator of the exhibition 'De temor y seda. Las torres de vigilancia de la costa' (Of fear and silk. The watchtowers of the coastline) is the person responsible for the conference.
The conference will be taught as an inauguration of the DE TEMOR Y SEDA (Of fear and silk) exhibition, a magnific example of the construction of the 16th century onwards, of a complex defensive system, financed through a special tax on silk. La torre del Gerro (The Gerro Tower), linked to the Castell (Castle), is part of our visual and historical patrimony, which entails a profound identity feeling, linked to the see and said coast guard.
Professor Luis Arciniega, director of the Demetrio Ribes Chair of the Universitat de València, curator of the exhibition, will offer on Thursday 10 April, at 7:00 p.m., at the Biblioteca Municipal (C/ Sant Josep 6, Dénia), the conference Dénia en el paisaje cultural defensivo del reino (Dénia in the defensive cultural landscape of the kingdom). There will also be a guided visit but for Friday 11 April at 11:00 a.m.
The exhibition at the Museu de la Mar de Dénia (Esplanada Cervantes, 2, 03700 Dénia, Alicante) will remain closed until October 2025 (11/04/2025 - 06/10/2025).
