Exhibition room of the Edificio del Reloj of the Port of Valencia - From 5 to October to 3 November.
Ports are not sole and special settlements where experiences and feelings accumulate. The Port of València —famous engineering work developed to facilitate the docking of the boats and goods and people circulation— has demonstrated an incredible flexibility and capacity to adapt to the life and needs of Valencian people and, in it, social activities and cultural exchanges that remain intact have been developed.
The photographies contained in this exhibition show some of the many moments that this port and its surroundings have experienced, all realted to work, to enjoy leisure time, sports or to the expressions of popular devotion. A social and cultural patrimony for Valencians tightly tied to the collectives of the miner neighbourhoods, whose identity is defined by their connection to the sea and the Port of València. Suggesting images of the past and the present that document different ways to live in the port.
The art historian Ester Medán, the photographer Luis Vidal Ayala and the Art History Professor Luis Arciniega are in charge of this exhibition —organised by the Autoridad Portuaria de Valencia (APV) in collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana, the Ministry of Environment, Infrastructure and Territory, the Demetrio Ribes Chair and the Universitat de València. Additionally some individuals have collaborated: Paco Burguera, Virginia Colomines, Eduardo García-Leonardo, Pep Martorell, María del Mar Mateo, Bárbara de Prat and Antonio Romero.
