Female Pioneers in Valencian Engineering. A Femenine Discipline Genensis

Our pioneers. Teaching, research, school administration, public administration and private business were their field of expertise in such a broad discipline as engineering.
Years of change. The configuration of the Valencian autonomy and the start of the territory development, the first steps of the Valencian College of Roads, Channels and Docks Engineers and the inclusion of women in universities as professors and researchers. They opened the path for future generations to make engineering a "femenine discipline".

Araceli Sánchez Urquijo, the 'Warchild' Who Conquered the World

València: Council of Housing, Public Works and Territory Planning , 2021. LlibreThis publication is dedicated to the unknown Araceli Sánchez Urquijo, the first woman to graduate in Roads, Channels and Docks Engineering in 1957.
Sánchez was a Basque warchild of poor upbringing who overcame both gender and class barriers. She got her license in the Moscow Energy Institute's Facculty of Hydroenergetics in 1949 and began her projects and direction of great dams in Centre Asia. She came back to Spain in 1956 and was hired as head engineer for the Isolux projects in 1957 of the Isodel Spprecher-Isolux-Electro Mesura group.
One of her remarked works was the Vandellós I central, the Puertollano refinery, the Juan Vigón nuclear reactor facilities or the Valenciana de Cementos control charts.

Valencian Aerodromes of the Civil War. Scenes, Elements and Memory of a Territory Defense Network

València , 2018. LlibreDring the Spanish Civil War, aircraft was one of the most important factor balancing the scales. Due to the scarcity of infrastructure, several aerodromes were built throughout the Spanish geography. The Valencian territory wasn¡t an exception and many air fields were installed to provide frontline and defense against enemies.
This publication is included in the 26 number of te Valencia Community Transportation Museum Booklet Collection and showcases these infrastructure and their elements in their context. First, the historical moment is introduced along with the republican aerial territory organisation and several aircraft scenes, including production, main crafts and war carthography.
The second part focuses on Valencian aerodromes, their organisation and classification regarding the aircraft fields i their territory. Secondly, a closer look on the field composition and the element typologies: refurbished farms for commanding and guarding points, refuge, powder storage, trench and machine-gun location. The last part looks for detail in preserved elements by exhaustive field work and revaluation projects.

It's the 5th number dedicated to the Valencia dock. It focuses on the historical study of the Public Strander, the Junta d'Obres Strander and the Floating Dam from the early 20th century. Only the Public Strander has survived until today, yet all of them are representatives of an era of out history.

It is a selection of 17 elements going from Antiquity to nowadays, icluding the railway lines, the Canet lighthouse, the dock or the irrigation systems.

As the title implies, the text presents the work of the republican government regarding the public works thrugh a quite unknown perspective: national exhibitions. The publication is divided between two main aspects: one providing context and detailes of the València / 1937. L’exposició nacional d’obres públiques that opened in Lonja; and one examining the precedents of this exhibition during the Republic and their rellevance in infrastructure for the Civil War and later years.

Locations and Landscapes: Baix Vinalopó, the volume is devoted entirely to this Alicante region.
Through a transversal vision of infrastructures, the first pages introduce the different networks existing in the territory: communications (land, sea and air), hydraulic and defensive ones. Subsequently, the most characteristic and important elements of public works are detailed chronologically, from the Middle Ages to the present day, including the bridges and the Elche reservoir dam, the Pontet dels Moros aqueduct in Crevillent or the lighthouse and the port of Santa Pola.

The Clock Building, Valencian Dock Symbol. A Century Work

LlibreThis publication of Demetrio Ribes Chair focuses on one of the most wellknown architecture elements of the Valencian dock: The Clock Building. It is included in the third volume of the commemorative series of the Valencian dock buildings, right after the modern shed and the commercial docks.
The text is divided in two theme blocks. The first one, by Inmaculada Aguilar, presents the projects, makers and process of the primitive marine station, locating it within the context of the docks creation. The second one, by Laura Bolinches, focuses on the transformations of the building from its reconstruction after the Spanish Civil War until the restoration during the 21st century.
