The Professional Institute of Roads, Canals and Harbours from the Valencian Community and the Road Area from the Valencian Council have organised a technical visit to the old N-III stretch of road in Contreras (Paso de las Cabrillas). This was one of the most emblematic works of road engineering of the 19th century.
The highlight of the visit was the participation from Luis Arciniega, professor at the Universitat de València and director of the Chair Demetrio Ribes. He provided a historical and patrimonial point of view on this infrastructure projected by Lucio de la Vall between 1847 and 1850.
This initiative reinforces the institutional commitment to conserving and valuing this public work’s patrimony. It also served as a precursor to the next Congress of Public Works and Civil Engineering Patrimony which will be celebrated in the Valencian Community in April.
